About Donna Stone

Author / Freelance Writer

My Story

Donna Stone is an author and freelance. writer. She’s a student of her craft podcasting her way to a PhD in how to use words to encourage, to educate, and to entertain.

She stumbled into a love of writing by chronicling her son’s health issues for family and friends via email. Emails evolved into short stories, articles, and eventually a non-fiction book called Tough As Stone: Brandon’s Story.

Sharing updates, frustration, and anxiety became cathartic and therapeutic. She realized the person responsible for patient well-being is the patient/parents. She urges patients and caregivers to gain a basic understanding of their conditions to maximize face-to-face time with physicians.

Tough As Stone led her to write a children’s health column for now defunct Examiner.com. She later teamed up with her husband, Eric, to write a motorcycle column which introduced them to the South Carolina Patriot Guard and other non-profits focused on helping every way a motorcycle could help.

In December 2021, her 19-year-old niece disappeared. Car, keys, cell phone, and laptop abandoned at the airport. Law enforcement couldn’t differentiate a legitimate trip from a coordinated abduction because she was … a legal adult.

The family learned young legal adults are a sales channel in a brilliant business model for human traffickers. Groomers exploit the natural insecurity of the transition to adulthood with a façade of friendship and unconditional acceptance. The result is an infinite supply of potential victims. That experience led to write her second non-fiction book called A Legal Adult – Legal on Paper, Easy Prey Online.

Donna’s first fiction manuscript will come to life as (tentative title) Cutthroat Cafe: Hospitality with a side of Heartburn in late 2026.

Her focus areas include: Christian Living, Health & Wellness,  Motorcycles, Mental Health, Southeast Local, and Human Trafficking.
